Juli<\/strong>&nbsp;wird \u00fcber unser vision\u00e4res Gro\u00dfprojekt in der Sahara berichtet:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarep.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Sahara Renaissance Project (SAREP)<\/strong><\/a>. Ziel des Vorhabens ist es, an der mauretanischen Atlantikk\u00fcste die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Trockenw\u00fcste der Erde in fruchtbares Land zu verwandeln \u2013 auf&nbsp;<strong>zwei Millionen Hektar<\/strong>&nbsp;sollen k\u00fcnftig Gem\u00fcse, B\u00e4ume und sogar&nbsp;<strong>gr\u00fcner Wasserstoff<\/strong>&nbsp;produziert werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das n\u00f6tige Frischwasser soll durch&nbsp;<strong>Meerwasserentsalzung<\/strong>, betrieben mit&nbsp;<strong>Sonnen- und Windenergie<\/strong>, gewonnen und \u00fcber unterirdische Leitungen auf die Felder gebracht werden. Hinter der Idee steht unser gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrender Direktor und Projektinitiator Prof. Dr. &nbsp;<strong>Peter Heck<\/strong>, der Klimaschutz als investierbares Modell mit echter&nbsp;<strong>Wertsch\u00f6pfung f\u00fcr Afrika<\/strong>&nbsp;etablieren m\u00f6chte. Sein ambitioniertes Ziel: Der entstehende \u201eW\u00fcstenwald\u201c k\u00f6nnte&nbsp;<strong>viermal so viel CO\u2082 binden, wie \u00d6sterreich j\u00e4hrlich ausst\u00f6\u00dft<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 und gleichzeitig tausende Jobs in einer strukturschwachen Region schaffen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zukunftsforscher Harry Gatterer<\/strong>&nbsp;sieht in solchen Projekten das Potenzial, bisher unerschlossene Extremr\u00e4ume wie W\u00fcsten mithilfe von Technologie \u2013 etwa Vertical Farming, Entsalzung und gr\u00fcner Energie \u2013 neu nutzbar zu machen. Voraussetzung sei ein strategischer&nbsp;<strong>\u201eFuture Plan\u201c<\/strong>, der auf nachhaltige Entwicklung statt Ausbeutung setzt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Der Startschuss f\u00fcr SAREP soll im Dezember 2025 fallen<\/strong>: Erste Begr\u00fcnungsma\u00dfnahmen und der Bau einer Entsalzungsanlage auf rund 50 Hektar sind geplant. Ob damit tats\u00e4chlich eine nachhaltige Oase entsteht \u2013 oder es doch nur eine Fata Morgana bleibt \u2013, wird die Zukunft zeigen.
