On October 10th 2023, the SAREP Conference took place at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld. The SAREP-Team welcomed about 80 guests from industry and academia who presented about different technical and economic aspects of the project and the first steps for partnerships were identified. The delegation of guests from Mali and Mauritania was highly interested in the project and fruitful agreements were made on how to further develop the project.
The highlight of the conference were the speeches of the Mauritanian Minister for Petroleum, Energy and Mines, Mr. Nany Chrougha as well as of the President of the city of Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, Ms. Fatimetou Abdel Malick. It was announced to form an interministerial committee to elaborate the project details further from the Mauritanian side and the baseline was set to sign a memorandum of understanding in Nouakchott later this year to officially start off the project.
