In its Friday edition of Landesschau Rheinland-Pfalz, SWR interviewed Prof. Dr. Heck about the planned reforestation project in the Sahara.
The Sahara is the largest desert on earth, characterized by drought and a lack of vegetation. IfaS would like to change this situation and turn the desert into a flourishing landscape with the help of state-of-the-art technology for irrigation and seawater desalination (sea salt from the Atlantic Ocean). The required technology is to be powered by renewable energies such as photovoltaics and wind power. The conditions for this are excellent in Mauritania.
